Saw Palmetto (Serenoa Repens) is a low, slowly growing, shrubby palm, the height of which usually reaches 2 to 4 meters. The trunk of a palm tree is branchy, creeping, and horizontal. The flowers are yellowish-white in color, up to 5 mm in diameter, form dense panicle inflorescences. The inflorescences are located on the top of the stem. The fruit of Saw Palmetto is a drupe, ovate-elongated, up to 3 cm long. As it ripens its color changes from green at the beginning of ripening to a bluish-black tint in the period of full ripeness. Ripening of the fruits occurs from August to October. Saw Palmetto is considered to be slowly growing, since it grows up to 2-4 meters in its entire life.
